A Kid’s Look at the Trip

The date is December 4th, 2022. We are in the last stage of the prep before the trip and everyone’s excitement is filled to the brim! We all seem to have a little thing that we are most excited for. Ian’s most excited about his soccer (or football if you aren’t American) camp in Manchester, Dad is most excited about Africa overland and hopes to see a lion, and Mom hopes to see tons of wildlife in New Zealand. Me personally, I am most excited about going to Italy and trying all the delicious pasta and other Italian delights!

I think that this trip is really important for me and Ian because we will be exposed to some other cultures that may be foreign to me and Ian right now, but we will learn about them and as a result, have a greater understanding of the way the world works and how some people(s) live life and adapt to their environment. We will also be seeing some things that are being seriously affected by global warming and might disappear in our lifetimes. Lastly, this is just an amazing thing that is really awesome because we get to see the world. That in itself is amazing because if you look at the numbers, only 12% of Americans have traveled to only ONE country while we will be traveling the world. When you look at those numbers, it really makes you realize how special this is and made me extra grateful.
