All About the Before They Disappear Crew
We’re Mike, Christina, Max, and Ian – the Before They Disappear crew (or the Tropi-Canavan’s in a crafty use of our last name). Years ago, we realized that the impacts of climate change would alter the world as we know it, and as a result, our kids will never get to see some of those places before they disappear. So, we're hitting the road for a 6-month adventure to travel the world to check out countries with these majestic places and hopefully learn about climate adaptation, equity, and mitigation along the way.
Christina
Lover of the outdoors, Christina spends most of her time inside behind a computer, but daydreams about being outside. Whether lake or ocean, mountains or beach, city or countryside, she’s planning the next adventure for the crew. When it comes down to it, she’ll take the beach over mountains all day long.
Mike
Mike is a multi-faceted man – father extraordinaire, loudest cheerleader on the soccer pitch or swim deck, lover of food who shows his love through food, and master MacGyver. He keeps us on point and safe through our travels. Being an enthusiastic skier, he prefers mountains over the beach, much to Christina’s chagrin.
Max
Max is a Zen spirit who prefers to take things at a slower pace when outdoors to appreciate the experience. Rock climbing and skiing are his jam – the steeper and higher, the better. He plans on being an engineer, geologist, or doctor. His thoughtfulness and powers of observation keep us in the moment and make us better.
Ian
Ian is an avid footballer (i.e., soccer player) and plans on being a professional footballer for Manchester City. His determined and competitive nature knows no bounds, whether on the field, skiing, or swimming. He loves to win and brings it 100% every day – we all rise to his challenge to do our best.
Mike and Christina live in the greater Washington DC area and both have careers at Deloitte.
